2017 Graduate Maria Thompson signs to play golf in Kansas.

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women’s golf program is pleased to announce the signing of Maria Thompson for the 2017-18 season. She is from Campbell, Texas and attended Campbell High School.
“We are excited to sign Maria Thompson for our women’s golf team,” said OU head women’s golf coach Wendell Smith. “In the short time that I have gotten to know her, I know she has the drive, hunger, and dedication to compete at the collegiate level.”
Thompson earned four letters in golf for Campbell High School. She participated in basketball, track, and cross country for the Indians. Thompson helped CHS to two District Championships. She finished ninth as a senior, third as a freshman, and second on a sophomore at the district tournament. She was a regional qualifier.
“She is a strong student, and she was looking for the right environment that met all of her needs,” said Smith. “I believe she is a good fit for our team, and the OU campus. In Ottawa University, Maria has found a place that she can thrive in academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually.”
Thompson is the daughter of Dean Thompson and plans to major in biology. ... See MoreSee Less
